Savannah 1884

Vintage map print — Savannah, 1884. Digital download; you print it.

Sanborn sheet: Sanborn Fire Insurance Map from Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia.

WHAT YOU GET — 5 JPEGs at 300 DPI

• 8x10 in (2.2 MB)
• 11x14 in (3.6 MB)
• 16x20 in (6.6 MB)
• 18x24 in (8 MB)
• 24x36 in (12.4 MB)

8x10, 11x14, 16x20, 18x24 are true 300 DPI from the original scan. 24x36 is enlarged to reach that size, which holds up framed but is not native resolution. I would rather tell you that than let you find out.

WHAT I ACTUALLY DID TO IT

Sanborn surveyors inked every block, every address, every stairwell — this sheet is that work, trimmed of its scanner surround, tone lifted back to warm paper, one pixel of speckle removed. The hand-lettering stays exactly as drawn.

HONEST ABOUT THE SOURCE

The original scan is a public-domain record from the Library of Congress Sanborn Maps collection. You could download it yourself for nothing. What you are paying for is the restoration and the sized, print-ready files — not access to the map.

HOW TO PRINT IT

Any print shop, any online printer, or at home. Ask for matte or a cotton rag if they offer it. The files are RGB at 300 DPI with the density tagged, so a shop will size them correctly without asking.
