Survey sheet: USGS 1:62500-scale Quadrangle for Bar Harbor, ME 1904.

WHAT YOU GET — 5 JPEGs at 300 DPI

  • 8x10 in (3.3 MB)
  • 11x14 in (6.1 MB)
  • 16x20 in (11 MB)
  • 18x24 in (14.2 MB)
  • 24x36 in (17.1 MB) — re-encoded q84, pixels unchanged

8x10, 11x14 are true 300 DPI from the original scan. 16x20, 18x24, 24x36 are enlarged to reach that size, which holds up framed but is not native resolution. I would rather tell you that than let you find out.

WHAT I ACTUALLY DID TO IT

The library scan arrived as a survey sheet with a century of grey in the paper. I trimmed the surround, stretched the tone back to warm paper, and took one pixel of scanner speckle off — not enough to soften a single contour line, because the contours are the part worth looking at.

HONEST ABOUT THE SOURCE

The original scan is a public-domain record of the U.S. Geological Survey's Historical Topographic Map Collection. You could download it yourself for nothing. What you are paying for is the restoration and the sized, print-ready files — not access to the map.

HOW TO PRINT IT

Any print shop, any online printer, or at home. Ask for matte or a cotton rag if they offer it. The files are RGB at 300 DPI with the density tagged, so a shop will size them correctly without asking.

NOT INCLUDED

No physical item is shipped. No frame. This is a digital download.
